CYCLE TIME REDUCTION WITH A CUSTOM AXIAL DRIVEN TOOL HOLDER


CHALLENGE:
The production of one of our key products is carried out on a TSUGAMI M08SYE_II driven-tool lathe using CuZn39Pb3 material. The side machining of the component was previously performed using 6 mm and 3 mm diameter solid carbide end mills, as well as a 3 mm ball end mill. However, the turret’s maximum speed of 5000 rpm did not allow the use of optimal cutting parameters. As a result, the cycle time was significantly longer than optimal, reducing productivity.

SOLUTION:
To address the issue, we commissioned the engineering team at MAXITOOL to design and manufacture custom axial driven tool holders with a 1:2 speed-increasing ratio. Following fast and efficient coordination, we received the tool holders within a few months and immediately began testing them.

RESULT:
Thanks to the new tool holders, we doubled the turret speed, allowing us to finally apply optimal cutting technologies. As a result, we reduced the product cycle time by 40%, significantly improving efficiency and productivity. Since then, we have been continuously and reliably using MAXITOOL tool holders in our production.
